BS6612 Graduated Compression Hosiery
Scope: This test method simulates the pressure exerted on the legs while standing or walking. This method is only used for prescriptive compression hosiery.
Sample is conditioned in atmospheric conditions for textiles
- Sample is mounted in the Hatra type apparatus and adjusted to customer specified circumference
- A milli-volt measurement is recorded at various points on the garment
- This number and the tested circumference are used to calculate the compressive force in millimeters of Mercury (mmHg)
BS7563 Non-Prescriptive Graduated Support Hosiery (modified)
Scope: This test method simulates the pressure exerted on the legs while standing or walking. This method is only used for low graduated compression socks (<20 mmHg).
-
Sample is conditioned in atmospheric conditions for textiles
- To simulate wearing length, sample is stretched from heel gore to welt to determine the mounting length on the Hatra type apparatus
- Sample is mounted in the Hatra type apparatus, stretched to pre-determined length, and adjusted to correct wearing circumference
- A milli-volt measurement is recorded at various points on the garment
- This number and the tested circumference are used to calculate the compressive force in millimeters of Mercury (mmHg)
