ASTM E 1645 - Standard Practice for Preparation of Dried Paint Samples by Hotplate for Subsequent Lead Analysis

• Paint is scraped off of substrate
• Paint is digested in acid and peroxide
• Extraction is analyzed by Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (AA or FAAS)
• Results are reported in parts per million (limit of detection 15 ppm)

CPSC-CH-E1001-08 - Standard Operating Procedure for Determining Total Lead (Pb) in Children’s Metal Products (Including Children’s Metal Jewelry)

• Metal is ground into very small pieces
• Metal is digested in acid
• Extraction is analyzed by Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (AA or FAAS)
• Results are reported in parts per million (limit of detection 15 ppm)
