Resistance to Yarn Slippage at the Sewn Seam in Upholstery Fabrics

Test Method(s):
    · ASTM D 4033 / 4034 Standard Test Method for Resistance to Yarn Slippage at the Sewn Seam in Upholstery Fabrics - (Dynamic Fatigue Method)

ASTM D 4033Scope: This test method covers the measurement of the resistance to slippage of warp yarns or filling yarns in woven upholstery fabrics, when testing for yarn slippage at the seam.

  • Environmentally conditioned samples are sewn warp to warp; filling to filling and warp to filling
  • Stresses are applied at the seam by imposing a cyclic, impact and penetrating load which will fatigue the seam construction
  • Inspections are performed at 500 cycle intervals, up to 7,000 cycles
