About Manufacturing Solutions Center II

In 2020 as the country shut down due to the pandemic, the Manufacturing Solutions Center and the City of Conover stepped forward to fill a need – testing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as masks and gowns and supporting the domestic production of these products and the expansion of the Manufacturing Solutions Center with a new building – Manufacturing Solutions Center II.

Thanks to a $9 million appropriation from the NC State Legislature to the City of Conover and a private equity investment from Whiskbroom, we were able to proceed with upfitting the Manufacturing Solutions Center I building with new lab space and equipment and with the construction of the new Manufacturing Solutions Center II building.

The Manufacturing Solutions Center II building is a public-private partnership between the City of Conover and the private equity group Whiskbroom. The Whiskbroom-owned portion of the building contains four operating companies which graduated from the Manufacturing Solutions Center I business incubator.

The Manufacturing Solutions Center II manages the other portion of the building which contains a Fabric Formation Lab, Best Practices Sew Automated Equipment Lab, Structural Engineering Testing Area, Prototyping Lab, PPE/Resource Textile Lab, Marketing Services, and state of the art meeting and conference area for economic development activities.

A public grand-opening of the building was held on March 30, 2023.

This expansion has allowed us to expand our services and continue to support US manufacturers.
